If you've spent any time on card-collecting TikTok or Whatnot, you've seen them: someone rips open a sealed box on a live stream while a chat full of people cheer for their team. That's a break — and it's one of the most popular (and affordable) ways to get into the hobby. Here's exactly how they work.
What is a card break?
A break is when a seller opens sealed trading card product — boxes or whole cases — live on stream, and the cards are divided between the people who've bought in. Instead of paying £300+ for a full hobby box on your own, you buy a spot for a fraction of the price and receive every card that lands for your spot.
Think of it like a group rip: everyone chips in, the box gets opened once, and the cards are shared out according to how the break was set up.
Why people break instead of buying a whole box
- Lower cost of entry. A single spot can cost a few pounds rather than the full box price.
- A shot at the big hits. High-end products carry autographs and rare parallels most people would never buy a full case to chase.
- It's a live event. Half the fun is watching your cards get pulled in real time.
- No leftover bulk. You get the cards relevant to your spot, not 300 base cards you didn't want.
The main break types
Pick Your Team (PYT) — you choose the specific team you want before the break starts. Popular teams cost more because more people want them. You keep every card pulled for that team.
Random — teams (or slots) are assigned randomly once all spots are sold, usually by a randomiser on stream. It's cheaper than PYT and everyone has the same odds, so it's a good place to start.
Divisions / Tiered — spots are grouped (for example by division, or into tiers of similar-value teams) and assigned randomly within the group.
Filler / Mixer — any leftover teams or slots are bundled together into one spot, often at a low price, so nothing is left unsold.
What do you actually receive?
You receive the cards that belong to your spot — nothing more, nothing less. If you have the Cowboys in an NFL break and three Cowboys cards are pulled from the box, all three are yours, whether they're base cards or a big autograph. If none are pulled, that's the gamble of the break.

After your break, we pack and ship your cards within 3 working days. Combined shipping across multiple breaks isn't available just yet — but it's something we're working on.

Common questions
Is a break gambling? You're buying into a live opening of real product with a known chance of what's inside — the same odds as ripping the box yourself, just shared. As with any sealed product, hits aren't guaranteed.
What if my team gets nothing good? That can happen — it's part of the format. Random and mixer spots spread the risk more evenly than a single premium team.
Can I combine cards from several breaks? Not yet — each break's cards are currently shipped separately, but combined shipping is something we're working on.
